Peonies are loved by all, with the exquisite scent, the gorgeous big ruffles and the various colours, whats not to love? With such a statement flower, it’s possible to have a bouquet with only peonies which is exactly what Lucys choice was for her wedding at Aynhoe Park.
Lucy & Simon fell in love with Aynhoe Park at first sight. They knew it was the venue for them, where they could host a weekend of wedding celebrations with lots of partying!
Living in Singapore, Lucy chose to have a bespoke lace gown made by Vivian.
Simon certainly wins the prize for the most thoughtful gift! He gave his wife to be a first edition of Peter Rabbit with a note saying it was for when their first born arrives. Wow!
Those of you who regularly read my blog will know how much I love a veil. The detail on Lucy’s was just exquisite. Doesn’t Lucy make a stunning bride?
The ceremony was hosted in the Orangery, with gorgeous natural light flooding in and views across the fields at the back of Aynhoe. The floral arch created the perfect frame for the couple whilst exchanging their vows. Full of Peonies, bombastic roses, Lisianthus, white Hydrangeas and a mix of foliage including eucalyptus and olive tree. Lucy’s parents have since installed this arch at their home and growing roses around it so it can remind Lucy & Simon of the special moments each time they see it.
The gorgeous girls! The bridesmaids wore blush pink beaded floor length gowns with simple Gypsophila bouquets.
With their love for travel, the canapés gave a nod to the various countries and their foods, a super personal touch.
The wedding breakfast was set up across the two adjoining rooms, the Salon and the Dining room. I love the clean aesthetic with the white balloons and low table flowers.
The love for travel continued throughout with the table plan and table names. Sprigs of Rosemary as a mark of remembrance were placed for each guest.
Aynhoe Park has such versatility with so many rooms available and outdoor space. Lucy & Simon had an outdoor drinks reception on the south lawn. The guests then moved to the secluded outdoor seating area for the speeches. This was a first for me, as previously couples have always had the speeches indoors once seated for the wedding breakfast. This worked so well though and I highly recommend it if you’re lucky enough to have dry weather.
Guests were invited back into the Orangery for the dancing, which had been transformed for the evening reception. The light from the 3 disco balls on the ceiling are always a hit!
Some wedding day advice from Lucy, the bride: Don’t get too caught up on the little things, most people don’t even notice and try to enjoy the lead up to the big day without feeling the pressure too much. Some advice we were given was to take some time out from the evening as a newly married couple and to separate ourselves from everyone else to simply be together and watch all of our loved ones enjoying our special day.
