This post has the wow factor! Drum roll please…for a real flower wedding dress!
Back in October I visited Brides The Show in London. I really can’t recommend visiting this show enough. Hosted by Brides magazine, it really is an industry leading show. There is a fabulous array of suppliers, inspiring talks, DIY workshops and the catwalk show is always a work of art.
The highly sought after florist, Zita Elze provided a show stopping display, which did in fact bag her the Editor’s Gold Award.
One of Zita’s world renowned floral embroidered ‘Sleeping Beauty’ dress opened the catwalk. Embroidered fresh roses, hyacinths, delphiniums, hydrangeas and wax flowers made a real flower wedding dress bodice. Teamed with a silk organza powdery grey skirt and sea lavender, it really was exquisite.
I love a muted colour palette with soft, intricate details, therefore I was in love with Zita’s design.
Zita says, “I would love to say everything comes directly from the soul. I really do not think of a recipe on how to put a design together, rather I let it happen naturally,” I have had the honour of working alongside Zita on several occasions, following her through projects and it is wonderful to see how the designs unfold.
My images below have been shot on film, processed by Carmencita.
I’m going to whisk you back to last Summer to an incredible wedding. Zita asked me to accompany her on the journey of designing and creating a floral embroidered wedding dress for a real bride. It was fantastic to be a part of this unique journey with Zita.
Zita also designed the bridal bouquet, buttonholes, bridesmaids bouquets as well as the detailed decorations for the church and reception venue.
The Stipa wedding dress was first created by Zita for the Luxury Wedding Show in London, October 2011. The skirt is hand-stitched using thousands of tiny bundles of stipa grass. The top, a bodice adorned with hundreds of tiny roses interspersed with berries and other fresh flowers.
If you want to see more from the making of the dress, watch Dreamcatchers video here.
